There was an excellent turnout to hear Helen Dickinson, Director General of the British Retail Consortium give a highly informative presentation on the challenges facing the retail industry in 2014.
Helen was able to bring a unique perspective: she was previously Head of Retail at KPMG and is now firmly in the industry camp.
Helen reminded the audience that this has been a difficult period for traditional “bricks and mortar” retailers and that only a year ago Blockbuster, HMV, Jessops and horse meat were in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Helen then gave the audience a fascinating insight and perspective and her analysis was noteworthy for a number of potential silver linings instead of the usual storm clouds.
