Attention to detail: no longer worth the effort ?

error correction

Not every text has to be perfect. Not every email has to be error-free and checked a dozen times. But some things HAVE to be correct and increasingly, it seems, people just can’t be bothered.

Worse, sometimes they manage effortlessly to leave the more attentive with the impression that they are being a bit “sad” in spotting their errors. Probably 50% of CVs I review have mistakes. I have recently been obliged to correct contracts and payment instructions from firms of accountants and solicitors for crying out loud! Why would you become an accountant or a solicitor if you weren’t willing to be a bit obsessive about checking and checking again?
